Michael DelGiorno For Hypocrite Of the Year
As the old saying goes, “What goes around, comes around” and talking head Michael DelGiorno of KFAQ in Tulsa has been taught the meaning of that saying in spades.
For those unfamiliar with DelGiorno, he is a long time Tulsa radio personality best known for his “Mr. Goody Two Shoes” ranting and railing about the failures and mistakes of others and this regardless of whether those failures and mistakes are real or simply a figment of DelGiorno’s imagination. DelGiorno who often touts his religious beliefs on the air has gone so far as to write a book titled “Standing Up For What’s Right”, which is mentioned on DelGiorno’s web page on the KFAQ web site. Unfortunately DelGiorno, like many that preach ‘what’s right’ seems to have difficulty practicing what he preaches.
One of DelGiorno’s favoite rants is about Indian casinos in Oklahoma. He has even gone as far as stating on the air that he doesn’t believe in gambling and that Indian casinos are destroying the state’s economy. He also likes to refer to Indians as “Injuns”.
In light of DelGiorno’s rants about gambling and ‘Injuns’ is it really that surprising that he is now caught up in a gambling scandal involving not one but two Indian casinos?
It turns out that on August 29th, 2005 while the eyes of the nation were glued to their television sets as Hurricane Katrina destroyed lives and property along the Gulf Coast that Michael DelGiorno may have had other things on his mind. Other things including a female card dealer at the Cherokee Casino in Catoosa and the dealer’s chips on the blackjack table at the Creek Nation Casino in Tulsa.
In the former instance it was reported that DelGiorno was tossed out of the Cherokee Casino after he allegedly made sexually inappropriate remarks to a male dealer about a nearby female dealer.
In the latter instance it was alleged that DelGiorno after a losing hand at the blackjack table took several poker chips from the dealer’s pile before leaving the table. DelGiorno was detained by Creek Nation security personnel and was immediately banished from the casino , initially for 30 days, and subsequently for five years.
Over the course of but a few hours Michael DelGiorno who has ranted and raved, loud and long about Indian casinos and gambling manged to get himself tossed out of two Indian casinos, banished from one and somehow managed to avoid criminal charges from ‘taking’ something that was not his. Most of us would call that stealing. DelGiorno reportedly told Creek Nation security personnel ‘he didn’t realize he had done it’. Evidently the ‘Injuns’ have a kinder heart than DelGiorno. Otherwise he might have found himself in jail, facing criminal charges.
Michael DelGiorno was once elected Oklahoma Radio Personality of the Year.
It is now time to elect him Oklahoma Hypocrite of the Year.
