I was arrested in 2008 during a sting operation in rogers county. I will first tell you my charges and then my story (cause everyone has one) I was charged with distribution of a controlled substance felony and a DUI misd. A little bit about what happpened: I was 22 at the time with a 2.5 yr old son and going through a nasty divorce. I was hooked up by a mutual friend with a guy in rogers county I dated him for a short while before he convinced me to sell 3 of his .5 mg xanax for him to a “friend” (why couldnt he sell them hiself? right thats what I asked… reasoning: he owed the guy money and didnt want him to know they were his… Im gullable and too trusting I know )spite my better judgement I did him the favor stupid I know… in the end I sold pills. rather it was 3 pills worth 6$ or not I still committed the crime. I was not arrested at the time this occured because it was a sting operation. If you cant tell yet the guy I sold them to was a Oklahoma Narcotics Bureau Agent. well about a week later I went to visit the guy i was dating (unaware at this point that he had set me up) we went to the bar together as we had done before … he lived about2 blocks from the bar and he didnt drink so I always just stayed at his house and he drove us. well this particular night he started a fight and left me at the bar (another bad decision made by me) I chose to drive to his house and once I reached his house the cope were there already… since I had never been in trouble before I believe this was all a part of the plan to get me in the rogers county system so that the following week it would be easier to find me when their sting operation was over. So a week after I get the DUI and make the decision to no longer speak to that guy and to keep my life in order as crazy as it was with the divorce and child and now a dui and much more to pay for. one week later is when the sting operation went down and they made their arrests… so for the 3 pills they had a swat team of 15 bust into my home around 7 am february of 2008 and my bail was set for 25,000$ I bailed myself out for 2500and hired an attorney to handle both cases… mind you I had never been in any kind of trouble before in my life… after a year and a half of fighting with the da about me doing jailtime i had to hire a different attorney that could get better results (my mistake was i hired a tulsa county attorney and should have hired someone in rogers county cause their all working together… duh!) so about 6 months more of court (total of 2 years and 3 months of ongoing court) there was no jury trial we went with a blind plea from the judge because the DA wouldnt settle for anything less than 6 months of county jail time and I ended up with 5 years of supervised probation 120 hrs community service for the pills an 4,000$ in fines and for the dui I got the same thing plus an additional 60 hours of comm service totaling 180 hours community service and a 1000 fine so 5000 more dollars. So add the two years without any trouble to the 5 years of probation thatss 7 years that I have a felony on my record, since the charge, altho it wasn’t a conviction, I haven’t been able to get a descent job and lets top it off 7,000$ in attorney fees over the two years… Well well now I’m going to make my head spin and tell you that this memorial day weekend on friday me and my boyfriend of some time now went to a mutual friends for a cookout and had a couple of drinks. Well on our way back home he got pulled over and he got a dui… the Tulsa county cops pulled up my record and saw the things from rogers county and automatically pegged me as a drug dealer and a ‘bad person’ and arrested me for public intox… yes as a passenger in the vehicle. didnt even give me a breatholizer or field sobriety test just said i was drunk and arrested me. as im sure you can guess that this was in violation of my probation so I’ve been told now that a warrant will be issued for my arrest once again in rogers county for violation of probation and once I bail myself out it is like im starting all over again I have to hire an attorney to work a new deal with the da that fought for two years to put me in jail… Im a full time mother, I work, and I go to college full time… its great to see that justice is on our side when it really counts.. I mean what would the world do with someone like me on the streets I should be locked up for my lifetime of screw-ups! Unfortunately I dont have another 1500 setting around to pay the same attorney that finished off my case… wasnt he nice to give me a discount this time!
