Abuse Trial Delayed

The child abuse trial for Sharon Kay Smith and daughter Brenna Ann Smith which was supposed to start today in Sequoyah County District Court has been delayed until May. At this time we don’t have all the particulars, hopefully we will shortly.

Trials Start Tomorrow

Sharon Kay Smith and daughter Brenna Ann Smith are schedule to go to jury trial Monday, March 26, in Sequoyah County District Court on charges of child abuse in the Boy in the Closet case in which the 4-year-old boys mother Melanie Smith has already been convicted and sentenced.

DHS Shakeup Overdue

Another Oklahoma child has died under Department of Human Services supervision. The latest victim is three-year-old William Barnard. Young William, who had Down syndrome, drowned in the bathtub within five days of being returned to a home from which he had been removed by Oklahoma City Police and DHS.

Say Goodbye Jeff

On Friday, State Auditor and Inspector Jeff McMahan finally admitted ties to Steve Phipps of Kiowa. Phipps is suspected of helping former state Senator Gene Stipe funnel illegal straw donations to favored candidates, including McMahan.
