Folks Going Places

The news is abuzz with reports of folks that are going places, some to trial, some to prison and one simply “gone”, at least temporarily.

First there’s a couple of disgraced former politicians:

It would appear that Gene Stipe has given up the fight and has packed his bags for the last time. Reportedly preparations are being made to transport Stipe to the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Missouri for a court ordered mental evaluation. Link

For sure former Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher is destined for jail, this after the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals ruled unanimously in upholding Fisher’s conviction in 2006 by a jury in Oklahoma County on perjury and embezzlement charges. Fisher still has another round of legal problems to go as he’s facing tax evasion and bribery charges in Tulsa. Link

Then there’s the matter of a couple of Noble, OK cops that shot and killed five-year-old Austin Gabriel Haley. District Attorney Greg Mashburn announced today that he will file second-degree manslaughter charges against Noble Police Officers Brad Rogers and Shawn Richardson. If convicted the officers would face up to four years in prison. Link

Lindsay Pope, 25, a Weatherford, OK in-home day care operator is going to trial. On charges of first-degree murder in the death of 10-month-old Luke O’Daniel, who according to the state medical examiner’s office died of blunt force trauma to the head. Link

And last but not least, Jermaine Jeffrey is going to be going to jail, when the cops manage to catch him. Jeffrey is wanted for a slew of felonies including shooting with intent to kill and a bunch of offenses resulting for a high-speed chase, a grinding traffic crash and other assorted mischief. Link
