Colbert Cops Bug Out
It appears that the entire Colbert, Oklahoma Police Department took it on the lam, bugging out over the dismissal of police department secretary, Libby Lavone, who was fired Thursday.
Late Friday afternoon, the town of Colbert was “copless” after all four officers serving the town decided to pack it in, in-mass. Well, as in-mass as four cops can make it.
As usual it appears that money is at the heart of the problems in Colbert. New town administrator Sharron Smith apparently decided to save some bucks for the cash strapped town by eliminating the police secretary’s position.
The Colbert Cops then decided to save the town even more money by packing up their stuff, turning in their badges and walking out the door leaving the town cop-less.
But have no fear, news reports indicate that the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office plans to patrol the streets of Colbert and Oklahoma Highway Patrol will cover the roads until the city figures out what to do about its missing police department…
