The Fence of LeFlore County

One of the most viewed series of articles on Bubbaworld has been that of “The Fence of LeFlore County, Oklahoma“.

That series details Barbara Ellison’s struggle for justice in a county where justice often exists only for those that can afford to buy it or that are friends with those that dispense it.

The last update to Barbara’s story, Part 7 was published almost two years ago and revealed the gross injustice done to her when she was falsely accused of a crime and arrested on trumped up charges of assault and battery upon a trespasser that unlawfully interfered with the use of Ellison’s property.

From October 2005 until the end of August 2007, Barbara Ellison waited and waited and waited some more as the wheels of LeFlore County Justice not only turned slowly but most often, not at all.

At long last the trumped up criminal case against Barbara Ellison has come to a conclusion and we have a verdict.

NOT GUILTY!

And not only did District Judge Danita G. Williams find Ellison not guilty, in her August 29, 2007 ruling she stated what both Ellison and her supporters have maintained all along, that being that Ellison did what any reasonable person would do. Even in LeFlore County, Oklahoma.

The judge in her ruling stated:

The court finds based on the evidence and testimony presented that the Defendant was justified in using the alleged force in preventing a trespass and or unlawful interference with her real and personal property (i.e. storage building). Based on the evidence and testimony the court finds that a reasonable person, in the circumstances and from the viewpoint of the Defendant would have reasonably believed that interference or damage was imminent. Further, the court finds that the amount of force alleged to have been used, and confirmed by the victim, Mrs. Wolfe, did not exceed that amount of force that a reasonable person, in the circumstances and from the viewpoint of the Defendant, would have used to prevent the trespass and or unlawful interference.

The judge’s finding and ruling basically lays waste to the false claims against Barbara Ellison and is a very strong harbinger of what awaits Ellison’s adversaries in the civil case which is still pending. This particularly since the same judge that heard the trumped up criminal case will be hearing the civil case.

While we have no assurance that justice will prevail yet again in LeFlore County, Oklahoma the fact remains that Barbara Ellison remains a free and innocent person following the phony criminal case and those that attempted to frame her are left to stew in the juices as Ellison’s supporters sit back, celebrate and pray that she obtains justice in the civil case also.

  1. It’s about time! There’s hope for LeFlore county yet!

  2. How is it that DEPUTY Wes Ritter is now promoted to UNDERSHERIFF of LeFlore County?

Okay, I know that was stupid question. But here is a valid question: When are the citizens of LeFlore County going to quit being stuck on stupid and actually get rid of the likes of Wes Ritter and Carroll Rogers?

  3. What has happened since part #7? Has Barbara gotten any justice?

  4. So publish the judges decision on the fence.

  5. so what ever happened in the civil case with Barbara…have not been able to find out anything. Let the world know…

  6. Barbara lost the fence battle but nobody wants to talk about it now… It’s all quiet. I could never figure out why she thought that old roadbed should have gone to her when she only bought 1 acre and that roadbed was not part of it.
