No Confidence At ORU
Richard Roberts, the embattled President and CEO of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, had another “stink bomb” lobbed his way yesterday when he received a “No Confidence” vote from the tenured faculty at the university.
In addition to the vote of no confidence in Richard Roberts, the tenured faculty also voted on two other motions, one a vote of “confidence” in Mark Lewandowski, the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, “with regard to his call for greater faculty governance and transparency of university finances” and the other being the desire of the faculty to have a greater role on how university leadership is selected.
Reportedly the resolutions are to be provided to the ORU Board of Regents and the faculty assembly at an upcoming meeting.
Clearly a majority of tenured faculty members want to see Richard Roberts gone as the head of Oral Roberts University.
What will be interesting is to see what if any actual influence they have with the Board of Regents and more importantly with the Roberts family which has controlled the university since its creation and who some say have lived a lavish lifestyle at the university’s expense.
