Roy Smith Plea and Sentence
On January 4, 2008 Roy Albert Smith Jr. 22, of Gore, Oklahoma in a plea deal with prosecutors pleaded guilty to child abuse and neglect and received a 10-year prison sentence.
As part of the plea deal between Smith and prosecutors, a provision was included for a judicial review in December to determine if he is eligible to have the balance of his sentence suspended.
Also as part of the plea deal, felony child neglect, child endangerment and permitting abuse charges against Roy Smith were dropped.
Roy Smith was a “star witness” earlier in the trial of his wife, Melanie Smith, who Roy Smith testified whipped her son with a leather belt adorned with metal conchos and would hit, slap, whip and kick the child on his back, arms and legs. Roy Smith testified that if he tried to intervene, his wife would whip him.
Roy Smith is the third of four Smith family members charged in the horrific abuse of then 4-year-old Robert Koepke, a story told in the Bubbaworld feature article “The Boy In the Closet“.
Melanie Smith was convicted in November 2006 of child neglect and endangerment. She was sentenced to 16 years in prison and her parental rights were terminated.
Sharon Smith of Gore, a great-aunt to the child, was sentenced to three concurrent 40-year prison sentences following her conviction in the case.
Brenna Smith, 32, Sharon Smith’s daughter, also faces one count of child abuse in Sequoyah County. Her trial was originally set for March of 2007, however it was delayed and no new date appears in the court records as of this date.

Kitana seems a bit unhinged. I think she needs emotional help and quickly before we are reading a story about how she has harmed someone. Hopefully she will get the help she needs but then again she is probably just a redneck idiot headed for jail in the long run…oh well….
