Washington County Treasurer Stan Stevens Busted
Washington County Treasurer Stanley Allen Stevens, 51, was arrested on drug charges around 11 p.m. Friday January 11th at the home of County Commission Secretary Kodi Ferguson.

Stevens was booked into jail initially on complaints of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The following Monday, Stevens wearing typical orange jail garb appeared via closed-circuit television for arraignment on a felony charge of possessing hydrocodone with an intent to distribute within 2,000 foot of a school or park. Bond for Stevens was reduced from $100,000 to $25,000 on the condition that he stay away from the county courthouse and its annex building, where his office is.
Police say that they have been investigating Stevens since December and are alleging that Stevens had been providing Loritab, which contains hydrocodone, to Ferguson and her husband, Jon Ferguson, who died December 16. Police say that Stevens had been providing hydrocodone to Jonathan and Kodi Ferguson from late October until Jonathan Ferguson apparently killed himself in the couple’s home.
On the day of Stevens arrest, a police informant called Stevens to ask whether he wanted to buy Loritab. That night the informant allegedly sold 50 tablets of the drug to Stevens for $250 at Ferguson’s home. Following the transaction, police swooped down on the Ferguson home to serve a search warrant and located the Loritab in the garage. Police have indicated that Kodi Ferguson was not present at the time of the transaction and may not have known about it.
Stevens has been the Washington County Treasurer for 21 years and was last elected in 2006 for another four-year term.
The investigation continues and police say additional arrests are possible.
Stevens’ 18-year-old son Grant was arrested earlier on the same day on a charge of possession of cocaine within 2,000 feet of a park with intent to distribute. Court records indicate that Grant Stevens was freed on $10,000 bond. His next court appearance is currently set for February 15th.
