State Labor Commissioner Lloyd Fields – what is he?

Oklahomans have legitimate cause to question whether their current Labor Commissioner Lloyd Fields is a drunken thief, an idiot or simply a practical joker run amok.

Last weekend something “strange” happened at the Professional Bull Riders Association’s Copenhagen Challenge Tour championship event at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City and it involved Labor Commissioner Lloyd Fields.

That much we know for sure.

The Oklahoman reported Monday night that officials with the Professional Bull Riders rodeo tour turned Fields over to off-duty Oklahoma City police officers Saturday night because he was suspected of stealing a guitar owned by bull rider Colby Yates of Pickens, Texas.

What happened after that is open to speculation.

Reportedly Oklahoma City Police did not arrest Fields but according to the Oklahoman they did take him to the Public Inebriate Alternative Center, a detox center near Bricktown.

Fields for his part has issued an apology of sorts saying:

I acknowledge an incident occurred last Saturday night. However, it was simply a misunderstanding of a practical joke among friends gone bad. I am embarrassed about the incident and take full responsibility. I apologize for my actions and ask for forgiveness.”

Fields offered no explanation for his supposed trip to the “drunk tank”.

PBR spokeswoman Jodie Edmonds said Fields was stopped by PBR staff after being suspected of stealing an expensive Taylor guitar owned by bull rider Colby Yates. Edmonds also said “A couple of guys who work for us took him to the ground.”

With his “sorta apology” and little else in the way of info Oklahomans are left wondering if their Labor Commissioner is a drunken thief, an idiot or maybe just a practical joker run amok…

In any case, none of the possibilities are a good thing for Oklahoma…
