Sally Kern Goes Gay

And gets caught in the process.

Oklahoma Representative Sally Kern

When an Okie pol achieves national or international attention the implications for Oklahoma are usually not good. This is clearly the case with Oklahoma State Representative Sally Kern.

Representative Kern has drawn the applause of fellow Okies and the disdain of pretty much the rest of the world with her claim that homosexuality is a greater threat to the United States than terrorism.

As a result of Kern’s pronouncement she has become a lightening rod for not only criticism, but also death threats and has pretty much been reduced to defending her point of view with claims of “What did I do?” and “I was only exercising my free speech rights”.

In the latter regard, Kern is right.

What many critical of Representative Kern do not realize is that Kern in making her “anti-gay agenda” speech was simply doing what most Okie pols do on a regular basis. She simply got caught when someone secretly recorded her anti-gay speech and posted that recording on a Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund Web site and subsequently on YouTube, where it received world-wide attention. Kern had previously given the same speech three times without a problem. The problem arose only when it was recorded and that recording escaped Oklahoma.

A key fact of life in Oklahoma is that to be elected to public office a candidate must subscribe to the “The G’s”, meaning that they are for God, for guns and against gays.

Currently there are no perceived movements underway in Oklahoma to ban either God or guns, therefore about all that is left for politicians to pander to is the fear of the “gay agenda”, whatever that is.

Representative Kern was simply doing what is expected of Okie pols and has now been left dumbfounded at the reaction her statements have received. Politicians espousing anti-gay rhetoric in Oklahoma is both expected and demanded, especially when that politician’s husband is a Baptist minister as is the case with Kern’s husband.

Representative Kern was simply doing what was expected of her by her fellow Okies and if one were to survey the residents of Oklahoma one would likely find that a vast majority, at least 80 percent, would not only agree with Kern but would vote for her in future elections.

Representative Kern’s mistake, if one can call it that, was not having all attendees at her speech frisked for recording devices.

This is an oversight which also occurred during Tom Coburn’s senate campaign a few years ago. During that campaign someone recorded Coburn saying that most Cherokees are not really Indians and that in southeastern Oklahoma lesbianism is so rampant that they can not let two girls go to school restrooms at the same time.

In spite of the recordings of his idiotic rants we elected Tom Coburn to the U.S. Senate.

In spite of Sally Kern’s idiotic rants she will be re-elected, if she chooses to run for office again.

After all they are both for God, for guns and against gays and that’s all that is required for a successful political career in Oklahoma, where intelligence is not a requirement to either run for office or to vote for those that do…

I think I will post this website on the Tulsa World Comments board and let those guys get a hold of your sorry a$$. I used to read this website regulary, but now I will delete it from my favorites. I don’t think you have any right to bash gays. You are obviously an i**** too.
    .
Oklahoma Girl, obviously reading for comprehension is not your strong suit.
    .
Were it you might have realized that the article which you feel was bashing gays was instead bashing Okie politicians that pander to the people that actually do bash gays.
    .
    Oh well, such is life…

  2. Excuse me webmaster. You do have a talent for being able to ridicule everyone in your articles. What I read into your article was that politians should be “for God, for guns and against gays” and that you are too.

I do agree with this statement though.

“intelligence is not a requirement to either run for office or to vote for those that do…”

  3. She didn’t mean that gays are going to start blowing people away as suicide bombers, though some m****s probably put the two together.
I understand what it was she was trying to say. The fact is that many feel the same way, and it doesn’t make us stupid, or bigots, or even wrong. I believe every human being ought to be treated with dignity and respect AS a human being. However, some groups of people only seem to get noticed when they scream, rant, and otherwise choose to act disgusting and obnoxious at a protest.

As messed up as our society is, with school shootings, pedophiles, child murders and rapists walking free, along with the scores of problems I haven’t got the time to mention, just where do we as a society have the right to okay homosexuality?
Think about it. Being gay has been considered a disgusting practice for thousands of years. As a matter of fact, every single society who attempted to okay it has been destroyed. That’s the commom theme with any society that accepts it; they always get destroyed. I’m sorry, but that is something to consider.

What makes us in this society to perfect that we have the right to say our ancestors were bigots, we’re right, and we’re going to okay this activity? Where do we get off, with all our disgusting problems, in making such an overhall of what should be right or wrong. How exactly, have we earned the right to change the rules?
Oh but we’re soooooo enlightened because we say being gay ISN’T disgusting.

I don’t trust the overhauled values of ANY society where the number one cause of death among pregnant women is murder. More often than not, there found with their bellies RIPPED open. Oh yeah, we’re sure qualified.

  4. Unfortunately, this article hit a bullseye. Kerns will get a lot of support from the Christian population, because what she says is exactly what they want to hear. It’s an embarra**ment, but it’s a fact of life in Oklahoma and other Bible Belt states.

I just hope she doesn’t join the whackos at the funeral protests.

  5. Being gay has been considered a THREAT to the manhood of males who are not certain of their own sexuality…
Some people say sex is disgusting…This society turned mothers nursing their own babies into something *disgusting*…
Where do humans in general have a right to NOT okay homosexuality when the Creator is the one who created it in the first place?
If you think it’s gay people destroying society, or the world, I hope you will think some more on it..
And think about this..for centuries, *society* felt it was *disgusting* to allow people with Down’s Syndrome to live in their own homes, and in some cases..to live at all…
It’s not wise to go along with what society says or thinks, but use your own mind and figure out what is truly right or wrong….

  6. Well said, however, everyone has their own ideas about what is right and wrong. How do we go about determining WHO to listen to? Is it the “modern” thinker who’s ways have not been proven to withstand the test of time? Time will tell if the more liberal mentality is right or not, but that’s the whole problem. Liberal, new age thinking has yet to withstand the test of time.
Time alone will tell who is right on the gay issue. But like I said before, I DO NOT TRUST THE VIEWS OF ANY SOCIETY IN WHICH THE NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF DEATH AMONG PREGNANT WOMEN IS COLD BLOODED MURDER.

  7. Interesting. So the views of our ancestors have stood the test of time? It was our ancestors who supported slavery. It was our ancestors in their Baptist churches who fought against civil rights for blacks in the 50’s and 60’s. And wasn’t it then the liberal minds who moved us forward?

Someday, we will look back at zealots like Kern the same way we look back at the KKK and their lynchings. Then history will see who is “correct”

  8. Oklahoma Girl – please I beg you. Take a deep breath and read the story again. Read it again after that too. Read it slowly.

The article’s author isn’t saying they are agreeing with Sally Kern. They are simply saying that a number of Oklahoma residents do and that most Oklahoma politicians are skewed to a very distinct and narrow viewpoint on life. Most likely they, like you refuse to take the time to actually understand what is being said to them, what is being read by them, what is going on in the world around them. It is no excuse to say what you read into the article was… It just shows you have poor reading comprehension skills.

  9. I’ve posted here before but feel the need to follow up. There is a lot of discussion going on in Oklahoma about the Obama socialist Nazi death squads taking over our government and how we need to legalize home made machine guns so ignorant rednecks can come to our rescue in the event of floods/tornadoes flashing AK47’s and protect us from the horrors of the Federal Government.

I work with one such person daily and I am just horrified by the amount of misinformation that is actually being absorbed by these i****s. It seems politicians in Oklahoma pander to such i****s just to get elected.

Please tell me I am wrong.

Today I was told that Obama is pushing for a VAT tax. This is completely untrue and no one outside of Fox News is reporting this anywhere.
